Lionel Shriver, Rebecca Skloot and Tim Parks are among the authors shortlisted for this year’s £25,000 Wellcome Trust Book Prize.
The six-strong list comprises Emma Henderson for Grace Williams Says It Loud (Sceptre) John Nichol and Tony Rennell for Medic (Viking); Tim Parks' Teach Us To Sit Still (Harvill Secker); Lionel Shriver's So Much for That (HarperCollins); Rebecca Skloot's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (Macmillan); and Angel of Death by Gareth Williams (Palgrave Macmillan).
Former barrister, comedy writer, presenter and chair Clive Anderson said: “In this impressive shortlist of medical books there is plenty to impress everyone from the hyper-critical to the hypochondriac. These are books which engage the interest and inform the reader in equal measure”.
The prize, which will be announced on 9th November, awards fiction and non-fiction titles on the theme of health, wellness or medicine.
