Weldon Owen buys A Bigger Picture
21.09.12 | Charlotte Williams
Illustrated reference publisher Weldon Owen has bought a title for its launch list by zoologist, anthropologist, author and artist Desmond Morris.
Publisher Martina Challis bought world rights in A Bigger Picture: Three Million Years of Art (working title), from the Silke Bruenink Agency. The title will be published in autumn 2013, and will see Morris combine his "deep understanding of human behaviour and his love of art to create a complete history of the subject from its roots in early human evolution through the to the future of art".
Challis said: "I am delighted to have this book on my launch list for 2013. It marks the very best in contemporary non-fiction publishing: a subject that is of perennial interest to an international readership, presented in an entirely fresh and expert way and with a clear point of view.
"The author’s narrative style easily holds the reader’s attention while offering remarkable insights into thousands of years of art and artists’ lives. Beautifully illustrated, it will be a complete history of the evolution of art.”
