Weldon and Hensher head to Bath Spa

Novelists Fay Weldon and Philip Hensher are among 16 new professors joining Bath Spa University.
Also joining the Creative Writing department are Naomi Alderman, David Almond, Aminatta Forna, Maggie Gee, Tessa Hadley, David Harsent, Nicholas Jose and Kate Pullinger. John Strachan joins as Professor of English.
The professors will join either in this new academic year or in early 2013, as part of a wider programme of development and growth, led by vice-chancellor Professor Christina Slade.
Slade said: “These appointments build upon our excellence in creativity and will enhance our teaching and research. Each of the new professors brings with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that will prove invaluable to the fulfilment of our vision to expand and become a truly international university whose students are global citizens.”
Also joining the university are Amanda Bayley and Joe Duddell in the music department, and Dexter Dalwood, Mike Tooby amd Gavin Turk as professors of art and design.
