We Love This Book editor moves to Sphere
01.01.70 | Benedicte Page
Ed Wood, editor of We Love This Book, is to join Sphere as senior editor for men's commercial fiction. Wood will take up his new post in October, reporting to associate publisher Catherine Burke.
Also joining Sphere and reporting to Burke is Lucy Icke, moving from the Piatkus imprint to become commissioning editor for general fiction.
Burke said she was "thrilled to add the editorial talents of both Lucy and Ed to Sphere fiction," saying: "Ed's background in books journalism, combined with his passion for commercial fiction and his impressive publishing vision, will be a huge asset to the team." She described Icke as "a brilliant colleague" whom she would now be working with more closely.
Wood said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Sphere and hope to build on its innovative and gripping list. I'm very proud of having edited We Love This Book for its first two years and have no doubt its great team will ensure its continued success."
Bookseller Group m.d. Nigel Roby said: "I asked Ed to take our original idea for We Love This Book and bring it to life. He did better than that. He turned it into the UK’s brightest and best books magazine. He leaves with our very best wishes and thanks."
