Wattle signs 'unique' Schindler
25.02.13 | Katie Allen
Independent Wattle Publishing has acquired world print and digital rights in Fandemonium by US author Rick Schindler.
Anastasia Cavouras, publisher, signed the title direct with the author. She said: "We are excited that we have acquired such a unique and humorous work.”
Fandemonium is the story of Ray Sirico, a comic book writer and reinventor of venerable superhero Skylord, whose heyday was in the 1970s and 1980s. Now, in 1993, he is a drunken has-been and his publishers, now owned by a corporate company, want to kill off his character. But Sirico has one last chance to capture the limelight, at the nation's biggest fantasy convention, Fandemonium.
"Deal-making, drug-dealing, lovemaking and truth-telling all collide at the riotous climax of a fateful weekend that leaves no one unchanged," the publisher revealed.
Schindler lives in New York and is a journalist and life-long comics fan. Wattle will publish Fandemonium in May 2013.
