Watson Best Read of TVBC viewers

S J Watson's thriller Before I Go to Sleep (Transworld) yesterday picked for the Desmond Elliott Prize longlist, has been voted Best Read of the series by viewers in "The TV Book Club" Best Read Poll.

Elizabeth Haynes' Into the Darkest Corner (Myriad) was voted into second place, while Girl, Reading by Katie Ward (Virago) was third.

Watson said: “l was delighted when Before I Go to Sleep was selected as one of the titles in the 'TV Book Club', so I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that it's been voted the most popular book! It's truly wonderful that it's been enjoyed by so many readers and I'd like to thank everyone who has supported and voted for the book. Thank you!”

Cactus' Amanda Ross said: “It was a great list this year, it’s not surprising that S J  Watson won the vote as he was the biggest seller, but it was gratifying to see a genuine uplift for so many new authors, including our presenters' favourite—Patrick DeWitt’s The Sisters Brothers.”

The most recent series of the "TV Book Club" is currently being repeated on Channel 4. The show recently revealed that there will be no summer series, although it is being remodelled for a "new broadcaster" in autumn 2012.
