01.01.70 | Katie Allen
The Kindle Paperwhite is go on sale through Waterstones stores by the end of the month, the retailer said today (16th October).
The Fire and Fire HD tablets will go on sale in the chain on 25th October, corresponding with the general UK release date.
Amazon.co.uk has told customers that orders placed today for the Paperwhite model would not be expected to ship until the week of 12th November “due to popular demand”, while adding there was a limit of two per customer.
A Waterstones spokeswoman however said the Kindle Paperwhite would be available in its stores “by the end of this month”. It will be sold for £109 while the Paperwhite with Wifi and 3G will retail for £169. The Fire and Fire HD will be sold for £129 and £159 respectively.
Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s c.e.o. and founder, said: “This is the Kindle we have always wanted to build, it has 62% more pixels, 25% higher contrast, built-in front light, perfect for reading in bed and on the beach, even thinner, with 8 weeks of battery life. We know that readers in the UK love reading on Kindle and we think they are going to love Kindle Paperwhite.”
