Waterstones is giving new prominence to its book club in 2013 after customers responded well to the paperback promotion in its first year.
From January, selected titles will be placed front-of-store and all books in the promotion will have a standard "buy one get one half price" discount, along with the current "Books you will love or your money back" promise.
Many of the titles will include exclusive extra content for Waterstones customers and the store will offer reader support with reading guides available online.
Kate Skipper, new title buying manager, said: "Book Club has fast become one of our most important strands. We aim to highlight an eclectic selection of the best new paperbacks around, and put them in front of as many readers as possible. Our customers have responded brilliantly, and we think they will love this first selection for 2013."
The first titles to feature in the 2013 promotion, at weekly intervals, will be Stone Mouth by Ian Banks (Little, Brown) and Quiet by Susan Cain (Viking). Others coming in the first quarter are Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (Pheonix), Angelmaker by Nick Harkaway (William Heinemann), The Good Father by Noah Hawley (Hodder & Stoughton), Hemingway's Boat by Paul Hendrikson (Bodley Head), The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce (Doubleday), Capital by John Lanchester (Faber), Ada's Rules by Alice Randall (Bloomsbury), The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan (Virago), An African Love Story by Daphne Sheldrick (Penguin), and Fish Change Direction in Cold Weather by Pierre Szalowski (Canongate).
Further title selections will feature across the rest of the year. The club will also be backed by a blog and regular events.
Publishers have not paid for their books to be in the promotion.
