'Wartime Farm' tie-in to Octopus
09.05.12 | Katie Allen
Octopus has acquired the tie-in to Lion TV's "Wartime Farm" a new series lined up for this autumn following "Victorian Farm" and "Edwardian Farm".
Group publishing director Denise Bates acquired world rights to the title from Lion TV agent Julian Alexander. Mitchell Beazley will publish on 3rd September.
The eight-part primetime BBC2 show will follow presenters and authors Alex Langlands, Peter Ginn and Ruth Goodman as they spend a year living on a reconstructed Second World War farm in Hampshire.
Bates said: "So many of the themes in 'Wartime Farm' resonate with our lives today, whether it’s growing veg or reducing waste. This was a time in Britain’s history when we could easily have been starved into submission, so the need to increase Britain’s self-sufficiency was acutely real and that drama comes over extremely well in the TV and the book.
"And of course visually—with the current appetite for all things vintage—the book is a dream.”
According to the publisher, "Victorian Farm" attracted a weekly audience of over 6m at its peak. Anova imprint Pavilion published the previous tie-ins.
