Walsh and Oswald join Forward judges

Poet Alice Oswald and Times critic Megan Walsh are to join the judging panel for this year’s Forward Prizes for Poetry, the 21st, as the awards open for submissions.

Poet and teacher Leonie Rushforth, a judge of last year’s awards, is to chair the panel, which will also include poet Ian McMillan and freelance writer and literary critic Emma Hogan.

Submissions are now open for the Forward Prize for Best Collection, worth £10,000 for a collection published between 1st October 2011 and 30th September 2012; the £5,000 Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection for a debut collection published between 1st October 2011 and 20th September 2012; and the £1,000 Forward Prize for Best Single Poem in memory of Michael Donaghy, for a single poem published between 1st May 2011 and 30th April 2012.

Deadline for submissions is 4th May.
