Audiobook publisher WF Howes has acquired UK and Commonwealth library and retail audio rights to Martin Amis' latest novel, The Zone of Interest, as well as several backlist titles.
Catherine Turner, acquisitions editor at WF Howes, bought the rights in a deal from Catrin Evans at The Wylie Agency. Recorded Books Inc, WF Howes parent company, signed North American rights.
The backlist titles signed include Money, Time's Arrow, London Fields, The House of Meetings, The Information and The Pregnant Widow.
Amis' forthcoming novel, The Zone of Interest, is described a love story set a concentration camp, the first time Amis has revisited the Holocaust following his 1991 novel, Time's Arrow. Jonathan Cape will publish the novel in print on 28th August, simultaneously with the audio edition.
WF Howes will release the book under its Clipper imprint for libraries, and under the Whole Story Audiobook imprint for direct-to-consumer channels. It will be available in physical and digital formats.
Dominic White, head of publishing and commerce at WF Howes, said of the new novel: "It’s a book that approaches a very serious topic with his characteristic wit. This title is already attracting a lot of interest internationally, and deservedly so, we are very excited for its release."
This deal follows W F Howes' recent acquisition of worldwide audio rights to Zelda la Grange’s memoir Good Morning, Mr Mandela.
