Virgin Books goes wild for David Essex
24.10.11 | Lisa Campbell
Virgin Books has acquired actor and 1970s heartthrob David Essex's autobiography.
The as-yet-untitled book will be published in March 2012 and will chart Essex's career spanning four decades as a drummer, singer, theatre star, film actor and recently as "EastEnders" character Eddie Moon.
Virgin Books has world rights in all languages and the book was signed by Virgin Books editorial director Lorna Russell.
Russell said: "David Essex is a legend, and his autobiography has all the stuff of a bestseller, from his gloriously recounted working-class childhood in the East End of London, through the crazy years of Essex mania and beyond. It's completely fascinating, and readers will love it."
David Essex said: "With so many adventures I felt it was time to write them down. I hope the reader will enjoy the journey as much as I have."

brill news, enjoyed the first book so looking forward to this one.
Rock On, gonna make you a star, with this Winter's Tale.
that'll be the day
David already published his autobiography in 2002, called 'A Charmed Life', so I assume this will be a sequel. I enjoyed that, so I'll look forward to reading the next instalment!
Virgin Books goes wild for David Essex?
Take a back seat... I've been doing it for years!
Would haved loved to have ghost-written that one.
As yet untitled? Only one possible title, surely... "The Only Way is Essex"! ;-)
