Vintage Digital has published an enhanced e-book based on non-fiction title The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England by Ian Mortimer, and accompanying the three-part series of the same name currently airing on BBC2.
The e-book, entitled The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England: A Sensory Ride, is based around the six senses of the Elizabethan era, which comprise seeing, hearing, smell, taste, feeling and fear.
The e-book includes 12,000 words of new material written by Mortimer and a selection of unseen clips from the television series to support the text. It takes the reader on a tour of the Elizabethan streets, and tackles questions such as why so few Elizabethans could afford to wear bright clothing, what the loudest sounds of the Elizabethan era would have been, and why an Elizabethan might occasionally wash their mouth out with sulphuric acid.
The e-book is available on the iBookstore as a multi-touch iBook, priced £1.49. The originalbook is published by Vintage as a £9.99 paperback.
