Vintage Classics launches children's list
17.04.12 | Charlotte Williams
Vintage Classics has launched a new children’s list featuring such out-of-copyright classics as Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island as well as contemporary works such as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon.
The list, Vintage Children’s Classics, will launch with 20 titles in August 2012, with a further 20 to be published by the end of the year, and more in following years. It will be aimed at eight to 12-year-olds, and “the adults in their lives”, with the series created using significant consumer research and an advisory board to include Random House Children’s Publishers m.d. Philippa Dickinson and author Dame Jacqueline Wilson. Other launch titles include The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne and Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden.
Vintage Classics editorial director Laura Hassan said: “These are the books that made us fall in love with reading and it has been a complete joy for the whole Vintage Classics team to revisit these stories.”
In August, Vintage Classics will launch a website, “World of Stories”, an interactive site for the list with quizzes, downloads and additional material about the books.
