Usborne and Walker are the latest publishers taking part in the Pizza Hut children’s book club, with books about Timmy Failure and Compton Valance due to appear in the scheme in June.
Between June and September, activity books based on Timmy Failure; Mistakes Were Made by Stephan Pastis (Walker Books) and Compton Valance; the Most Powerful Boy in the Universe by Matt Brown (Usborne) will be published in the booklets given to children at Pizza Hut restaurants.
The kids will also get vouchers to buy the books at a discount prize at WHSmithstores.
Jill Kidson, consumer marketing manager at Walker, said the promotion will “engage with families in a really fun setting”, while Anna Howorth, marketing and publicity manager at Usborne, said it would introduce Compton Valance to a whole new fan base.
The books will also be promoted through the Pizza Hut website, emails and Facebook page.
Pizza Hut Restaurants launched its book club in 2012 with advertising agency Mostra.
Earlier this year, it struck deals with Hot Key Books, Bloomsbury Children’s Books, Templar and Nosy Crow for the March – June period.
