Usborne has acquired the rights to My Second Life, a teen mystery from debut author Faye Bird.
Anne Finnis, Usborne fiction deputy director, acquired world English language rights from Hilary Delamere at The Agency. Usborne will publish the book in July 2014.
My Second Life tells the story of 15-year-old Ana and her strange visions of being another person called Emma. A chance meeting at a hospital kicks off a series of terrifying visions of a girl who drowned, leading Ana to suspect that the girl’s death wasn’t an accident.
Faye Bird previously worked as a literary agent at The Agency but is now developing her own writing. She studied under Anthony McGowan on the Faber Academy Writing for Children course.
