Ursula Mackenzie, former c.e.o of Little, Brown, has joined Profile Books’ board of directors as a non-executive director.
Mackenzie was appointed c.e.o of Little, Brown in 2006, moving on to become chairman of the publisher in 2015 when David Shelly was appointed c.e.o, and retired from that role at the end of 2016 after 35 years in publishing.
Andrew Franklin, m.d of Profile Books, said the company was “incredibly lucky” to have Mackenzie on the board of directors and she would bring a “huge range of expertise, experience and a razor sharp-mind to any meeting”.
“With more than enough depressing news around, it is great to be able to share some news that is wholly positive,” he said. “We are incredibly lucky to have Ursula Mackenzie joining our board of directors, only a couple of months from stepping down from running Little, Brown so brilliantly successfully. She brings a huge range of expertise, experience and a razor sharp-mind to any meeting.”
Mackenzie joined Little, Brown Book Group as Publisher in 2000. In her time as c.e.o, Little, Brown won two Publisher of the Year Awards in 2010 and 2014. She was chair of the Trade Publishers’ Council from 2007 – 2012, and served on the PA Council from 2011 – 2016, acting as its president from May 2012 – May 2013.
Mackenzie said: “I am excited to be joining the Profile Board as a non-executive director. Profile is a consistently successful independent publisher with a great list and a very talented team, carefully nurtured by Andrew Franklin over the last twenty years. I hope I will be able to bring a slightly different perspective that they may find useful.”
