Union seeks meeting with Eason's management

Members of the Irish union Siptu have voted to back Eason's proposals to defer last year's Christmas bonus. The union is seeking a meeting with Eason's management to discuss its future plans.

Last year the Irish bookseller backtracked from imposing a 12.5% pay cut on its 1,500 employees.
However, it proposed deferring 2009's Christmas bonus, which amounts to one week's pay, as it conducts a strategic review of the business.

Noel Maguire of Siptu said the proposal was backed "overwhelmingly" by its members.
