Two from Sandler for Exhibit A
06.11.12 | Charlotte Williams
Angry Robot's crime imprint, Exhibit A, has acquired two titles by US author Karen Sandler.
Commissioning editor Emlyn Rees [pictured] bought world English rights in Clean Burn and a second as-yet-untitled novel from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein and Matt Bialer and Lindsay Ribar at Sanford J Greenburger Associates.
Clean Burn is the first in a series of contemporary mysteries featuring Janelle Watkins, "a wise-cracking, tough-as-boots private investigator, who's forced to return to her hometown of Greenville on a case involving missing children, serial arson and Janelle's own haunted past".
Rees said: "Karen is one of those rare writers who can leave you smiling on one page and feeling like your heart is about to burst with adrenaline on the next. And in Janelle Watkins, we have an idiosyncratic and instantly likeable female lead who's sure to win legions of fans."
Exhibit A will be publishing Clean Burn in September 2013 simultaneously in the UK and US.
