Transworld acquires Telegraph expenses title

Transworld has bought the rights to an inside story on the expenses scandal written by journalists from the Telegraph. Publisher Bill Scott-Kerr acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from agent Robert Smith, acting for Telegraph Media Group.

No Expenses Spared is written by Gordon Rayner (left) and Robert Winnett, the two journalists who led the expenses investigation. Rayner is the Daily Telegraph's chief reporter and Winnett is the deputy political editor.

Winnett said: "The expenses scandal is one of the few political stories in decades to capture the public's imagination and interest. The inside story of the investigation and how politicians dealt with the crisis will grip readers as the ramifications of the scandal dominate the forthcoming general election campaign."

Transworld will publish the title as a Bantam Press hardback in autumn this year priced £18.99.

The book will look at the story behind the story. It will begin with the original tip-off in a Chilean vineyard to covert meetings in wine bars with a former SAS officer.
