Titan Books has acquired worldwide distribution rights to pulp paperback series Hard Case Crime.
The publisher has teamed up with series creator Charles Ardai to publish the series, which launched in 2004. Sixty-six titles were published until August 2010, when publisher Dorchester Publishing ceased mass market paperback publishing.
"Hard Case Crime has done a remarkable job in a very short time of building a brand known for outstanding crime fiction and stunning artwork," said Nick Landau, Titan Books publisher and c.e.o. of Titan publishing group. "We are thrilled to partner with Charles and look forward to bringing Hard Case Crime to a wider audience around the world, not only through the novels themselves but also through an innovative merchandise program."
The first titles will be published in September and October 2011, with launch titles to include Quarry's Ex by Max Allan Collins, Choke Hold by Christa Faust plus two further novels. Each title will feature cover art by Robert McGinnis, the illustrator of the original James Bond movie posters.
Titan also plans to acquire all existing stock of Hard Case Crime's backlist from Dorchester Publishing.
The purchase follows Titan recent acquisition of worldwide distribution rights to Signum Books.
