MacLehose Press has acquired three novels by this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature winner Patrick Modiano, as well as three novels by two other writers.
The publisher bought British and Commonwealth rights from Gallimard to three books by Modiano.
His most recent novel Pour Que Tu Ne Te Perdes Pas Dans Le Quartier will be published next summer alongside Un Pedigree, which was originally published in 2005. In 2016 MacLehose Press will publish L’Herbe De Nuit, first published in France in 2012. There are no English titles yet for the novels.
MacLehose Press also bought British and Commonwealth rights to The Faculty of Dreams, which won the Nordic Council Prize, and The Gravity of Love by Sara Stridsberg from the Hedlund Agency in Stockholm.
World English language rights to Steven Uhly’s Königreich der Dämmerung (The Kingdom of Twilight) were acquired by associate publisher Katharina Bielenberg from publisher Secession Verlag in Berlin.
The book is described as a “gripping tale of epic, cinematic proportions that spans an arc from Germany in the final months of the Second World War to Israel in the 1970s”.
