A new film based on the Hugo Award winning The Three-Body Problem is in production to be released next year.
The Three-Body Problem, written by Cixin Liu and translated by Ken Liu, is the first title in the Three-Body Series, which tells the story of a civilization in another solar system that is facing extinction and chooses to invade the Earth to save itself.
The trilogy has already been awarded the Galaxy Award, China’s top honour for science fiction and has sold more than 1.5 million copies in its original Chinese, making it the best-selling work in this genre in China.
Nicholas Cheetham, digital publisher at Head of Zeus, said: “The Three-Body Problem is a genre milestone and a must-read for any science fiction fan.”
The second title in the trilogy, The Dark Forest, is being published by Head of Zeus in October.
Liu won the best novel prize at this year’s Hugo Awards, although no awards were given in five categories.
