The Casual Vacancy cover revealed
03.07.12 | Charlotte Williams
Little, Brown has released the cover for J K Rowling's first adult novel, The Casual Vacancy, with bold yellow and red background colours, white lettering and what appears to be a cross marking a ballot paper.
It has also corrected the name of the lead character to Barry Fairbrother, saying it was "incorrectly given as Fairweather" in the original announcement. The statement said: "This was Little, Brown's error and we are correcting it now."
The ballot paper reference is likely to refer to the election to fill the empty seat left on the parish council following the death of Fairbrother in the novel.
The cover has been designed by Mario J Pulice, with the illustration and hand lettering created by Joel Holland.
Meanwhile, Little, Brown has announced that the audio edition of the novel will be read by actor Tom Hollander.
The 512-page book is released on 27th September as a £20 hardback, £11.99 e-book, £20 unabridged audio download and a £30 CD.
