Templar is linking up with the Big Draw project for the launch of its Pictura colouring books series for adults and children.
The Big Draw, a nationwide project originally launched in 2000 by the Campaign for Drawing, is designed to encourage people to take up the pastime.
This year, a number of free events will take place at galleries and museums in London, Manchester and Newcastle, with the artists behind the Pictura books explaining their inspirations for their designs. Levi Pinfold, Ian Andrew and Helen Ward are among the names on the Pictura list.
Amanda Wood, creative director of Templar, said: "Craft activity is a growing area, but there seemed to be a real gap for something that was colouring in top-end art. Our illustrators are keen to get people drawing and exploring their creative side. We all need to get our hands dirty again and really engage with that practical aspect of creating art."
Lord Foster, one of the patrons of The Big Draw campaign, said: "Drawing is the root of every concept and design. It is a fundamental life skill. The Big Draw inspires people of all ages to engage with the world we inhabit and I hope that more people will rediscover the immediacy of the medium they relished as children."
