Templar acquires more from ‘YA Hilary Mantel’
13.09.12 | Charlotte Williams
Templar has acquired two more books by H M Castor in her Tudor young adult series Sisters of the Halfblood, aiming to create the “YA equivalent to Hilary Mantel”, as international deals gather pace.
Acquisitions editor Helen Boyle bought worldwide rights from Penny Holroyde at the Caroline Sheldon Agency in the two titles, Mary and Elizabeth, which will follow on from Castor’s title about Henry VIII’s childhood and teenage years, VIII.
Boyle said: “In addition to the vivid historical detail, what Harriet does so well is speak to modern teenagers, finding elements in the lives of these historical characters that will appeal to the modern reader.”
S&S US has acquired North American rights at auction. Deals have also been secured in Australia, France and Hungary.
