Former children's laureate Quentin Blake will have a new book of memoirs out this autumn from Tate Publishing, to coincide with the illustrator's 80th birthday.
Beyond the Page (15th November, £19.99) will focus on the years directly following Blake's stint as the first children's laureate, from 1999 to 2001, up to the present day. It follows a first memoir, Words and Pictures, which was published by Jonathan Cape in 2000.
The new book will explore Blake's work both on book projects, such as the Roald Dahl re-issues and with David Walliams' children's books, as well as on his other projects and commissions, including his "illustrated walls" project for hospitals in the UK and France.
Beyond the Page will have more than 240 colour illustrations by Blake, with the text split into 12 chapters to give an insight into his working processes, travels and collaborators.
