Sweet Things for Corvus
09.09.10 | Philip Jones
Laura Palmer, senior editor of Corvus has acquired UK and Commonwealth (excluding Canada) rights in a pre-emptive deal with Stephanie Thwaites on behalf of Lisa Bankoff at ICM to Sweet Things by Laura Kasischke, a powerful tale of sex, death and sorority sisters set in a claustrophobic New England college. The book will be published in August 2011.
Palmer said: "This is such a powerful novel. Not only because it is an utterly compelling narrative, but because it engulfs you with its wonderfully spooky atmosphere: a New England college in the grip of winter, crowded with candle-bearing students who are obsessed with the strange death of one of their friends. It’s as if Audrey Niffenegger and Donna Tartt had sat down together to write an episode of Twin Peaks."
Laura Kasischke (pronounced Ka-ZISS-kee) was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan, where she received her BA and her MFA in creative writing. She is now an associate professor there.
