18.10.12 | Charlotte Williams
Headline is publishing a new series of straight-to-digital novellas by historical fiction author Simon Scarrow, with the first Arena: Barbarian to be released on 25th October, priced £1.99.
The new Arena series will comprise of five novellas, all set in Ancient Rome and featuring new character Pavo, a novice gladiator, as well as Scarrow's ongoing character, Macro, veteran of the Roman legions. The series is set before Macro met Scarrow's other recurring main character, Cato, and the Eagle series began.
The four further Arena novellas will be published at two-monthly intervals, and will all be priced £1.99.
Publishing director Marion Donaldson said: "New readers and existing fans alike will be thrilled by these high-action, atmospheric and intriguing stories. Simon has long been established as one of our finest writers of historical fiction, and I'm very excited to be taking the Arena titles to readers in digital form, marrying the traditional style with a very contemporary format."
