The new Arena series will comprise of five novellas, all set in Ancient Rome and featuring new character Pavo, a novice gladiator, as well as Scarrow's ongoing character, Macro, veteran of the Roman legions. The series is set before Macro met Scarrow's other recurring main character, Cato, and the Eagle series began.

Publishing director Marion Donaldson said: "New readers and existing fans alike will be thrilled by these high-action, atmospheric and intriguing stories.
