Peter Stothard is to chair the judging panel for next year's Man Booker Prize for Fiction.
The editor of the Times Literary Supplement, and previous editor of the Times, Stothard is also the author of diaries On the Spartacus Road, A Spectacular Journey Through Ancient Italy (HarperPress) and Thirty Days, A Month at the Heart of Blair's War (HarperCollins).
Stothard has previously chaired the judging panel for the Forward Poetry Prize. He said: "It is a great honour and a challenge to chair the Man Booker judges. I have admired the prize for all my editing and writing life—and look forward hugely to a year as a reader and critic within its great traditions."
The longlist for the 2012 Man Booker Prize will be announced in July 2012. The shortlist of six titles will be revealed in September, with the winner announced on 16th October 2012.
