Simon & Schuster US has signed a deal to sell and distribute the physical editions of John Locke's Donovan Creed novels in North America.
In June, Locke became the first self-published author to sell more than one million e-books through Amazon. The deal was signed by Stephen Black, vice-president for client publisher services at S&S, and Locke's agent, Jane Dystel of Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.
The eight Donovan Creed books will be published by John Locke Books and go on sale from February 2012.
Black said: "Not only does John Locke write terrific novels, he clearly knows his audience and has a deep understanding of how to reach them.
"We are very excited that we can now help to expand John's readership to include those millions of readers who still savour the joys of sitting down for a few hours of entertainment with a traditional paperback book. It is a win-win for all concerned."
Locke said: "There are many paths from author to reader and any path that puts the reader first will be successful. This agreement represents an exciting departure from the norm, and I applaud Simon & Schuster's incredible vision, and their willingness to provide a vehicle that allows all readers traditional access to my books. I'm proud to be associated with this outstanding company."
