Sphere will this autumn publish Start With Your Sock Drawer: The Simple Guide to Living a Less Cluttered Life, by professional organiser and declutterer Vicky Silverthorn.
The book will outline Silverthorn’s philosophy of decluttering by taking on small tasks one at a time, offering “manageable chunks” that busy people can fit into their day, according to the publisher.
Sphere non-fiction editorial director Hannah Boursnell acquired world rights directly from the author, who is writing the book in collaboration with her cousin, journalist Emma Cooling.
Boursnell said: “I’m thrilled to have found Vicky and to be working with her on her brilliant book, which I know is going to be a lifesaver for anyone who thinks they’re incurably disorganised and destined to always be drowning in clutter – myself included. Vicky has the rare gift of making the overwhelming and impossibly complex seem straightforward and simple. We’ve got so many exciting plans, and I can’t wait to see everyone getting stuck into their sock drawers.”
Silverthorn has her own business, You Need a Vicky, which helps clients organise their living spaces. She was previously a PA for high-profile celebrities such as Lily Allen.
She said: “I believe we need to simplify our lives in order to improve not only the spaces we live in but our clarity of mind and wellbeing too. There’s only so long we can live with so much stuff without it having a negative effect on our lives.”
Start With Your Sock Drawer will be published in paperback and e-book in September.
