Sony has opened an e-reader store in Germany, selling digital titles in eight different languages.
The company, which currently sells its Sony Reader device in Germany, has hit the headlines in the UK for selling some newly-released e-books for 20p, leading to a price-matching by Amazon.
The German Reader Store will sell books in languages such as German, English, Dutch, Spanish, Catalan, French, Italian and Polish, and the store will come built into its PRS-T2 and PRS-T1 model e-readers. The digital books will be in the E-pub format and many titles “DRM-free”, the company said.
Tad Kitsukawa, managing director of Sony Digital Reading Services, said: “We’re happy to launch Reader Store Germany. We aim to satisfy the reading needs of our customers by offering the books they want to read.”
