Smith to be vice-president of CILIP

Library campaigner Lauren Smith has been elected as vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
Smith, a learning and teaching support officer at the University of Leeds, will serve for one year from 1st January 2012. Smith has gained a high media profile for her work with Voices for the Library and the Save Doncaster Libraries campaign.
She said she hoped "to help CILIP achieve its goals of supporting new professionals, increasing its emphasis on advocacy and providing a significant voice for the profession".
