Former HarperCollins editor Clare Hey has launched a new digital short story website offering pieces at 99p.
Shortfire">http://www.shortfirepress.com">Shortfire Press will have three new short stories uploaded every two weeks, as well as blogs and interviews with authors. The first three stories on the site are by Nadifa Mohamed, winner of the 2010 Betty Trask prize, poet Laura Dockrill and debut author Elizabeth Jenner. The e-books are sold on a profit share basis.
Hey said: "We wanted the e-books to be something you could read in those spare moments like when you are waiting for friends in the pub or while you are on the Tube."
The next three stories will go live next Friday (21st January). Number 9 by novelist Vikram Kapur is about a pregnant suicide bomber, the second is 'Redundancy is Beautiful' by poet John Osborne, and third is to be confirmed.
