Short Books teams up with S&S US
01.01.70 | Charlotte Williams
UK indie Short Books has teamed up with Simon & Schuster US imprint, Atria Books, to launch a co-publishing agreement, under the name Marble Arch Press.
The new imprint will begin publishing in autumn 2012, and will publish in the US and Canada, across print and e-book. It will publish about 12 titles each year from Short Books' UK list, with the autumn list to include The J M Barrie Ladies' Swimming Society by Barbara J Zitwer, The House on Paradise Street by Sofka Zinovieff, For the Love of Letters by John O'Connell and in spring 2013 the trans-Atlantic publishing of Lost Luggage by Jordi Punti.
Atria Books executive vice president and publisher Judith Curr said: "Even as digital distribution and marketing take on ever-greater importance in our industry, quality content remains the driving force in successful publishing. The Short Books list reflects the varied interests and impeccable editorial taste of its founders and it is a privilege for Atria to be able to introduce such a delightful collection of books and authors to American readers."
Short Books co-founder Aurea Carpenter called the partnership "a huge opportunity for our authors".
