Sheema Mookherjee appointed LP India publisher
14.06.11 | Charlotte Williams
Lonely Planet has appointed Sheema Mookherjee as publisher for its Indian publishing arm.
Mookerherjee's most recent role was looking after HarperCollins India's non-fiction and reference lists, and she started work at Lonely Planet in Delhi on Monday (13th June).
Her role with Lonely Planet will be to create and launch a guidebook list for Indian travellers, adapting the current international guides to make them relevant to the Indian market, as well as recruiting, training and commissioning a new group of Indian Lonely Planet authors to make Indian domestic guides.
Editorial director Piers Pickard said: "Current predictions have India overtaking the US in terms of international travel by 2020 so it is important that the needs of the Indian traveller are met."
