Seventeen chosen for Booked Up

Titles from Cressida Cowell, Sita Brahmachari and Jon Mayhew have been selected for Booktrust"s “Booked Up” programme, which sees 17 titles on offer to all year seven pupils in England.
Over 650,000 free books will be delivered to children in their first year of secondary school from September 2011. Booked Up enables each pupil to make their own choice from the 17 titles, which include fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Michelle Pauli, Guardian children"s books website editor and chair of the 2011 selection panel said: "Selecting the books for this year's Booked Up programme has been a tremendously enjoyable and inspiring process . . . We are sure that among the Booked Up list there will be something to spark the interest of every reader, and we can't wait to hear their feedback!"
The scheme, now in its fifth year, was almost cut late last year when the government announced it was to cease all funding to administrator Booktrust's bookgifting schemes. The government later u-turned on the decision after a public outcry.

Are these really tragetting 11 year olds? A finger puppet activity book for secondary school children? How were these chosen?
sloppy fingers (mine) - targetting obviously!
Damini - I believe that the books are aimed at all 11 year olds, including severely disabled children and the finger puppet activity books are no doubt aimed at them.
Hooray for Mortlock! Great choice! Such a gripping story.
