Graphic novel publisher SelfMadeHero has acquired English translation rights to the French political satire, Quai D'Orsay. The title will be published in the UK as Weapons of Mass Diplomacy.
The book follows a fictionalised version of former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, here renamed Alexandre Taillard de Vorms, and is set during the run-up to the Iraq war. It is written by Abel Lanzac, a former speechwriter for De Villepin.
The book, which contains a cast of thinly disguised politicians from around the world, has been a bestseller in France, and turned into a film by director Bernard Tavernier, due for release at the end of the year.
The book, which SelfMadeHero said "belongs to the same tradition as TV series like 'The Thick of It' and 'Yes Minister'" will be published in spring 2014.
