Second Harry Potter theme park to open in Japan
11.05.12 | Bookseller Staff
Japan is to get its own Harry Potter theme park, and author J K Rowling is "delighted", according to a report in the Hollywood Reporter.
Universal Studios Japan, situated in Osaka, is to open an attraction modelled on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida. Warner Bros and Universal Parks & Resorts are also partnering on the Japanese theme park project.
The Harry Potter film series has grossed $893m in Japan.
Rowling said: "I was delighted to experience and enjoy the attention to detail, creativity and superb craft that went into the first Wizarding World in Orlando. I am equally delighted that the same level of expertise and enjoyment will translate to the new park in Japan."
