Aurum has bought a new book by the Guardian’s former royal correspondent, Stephen Bates, about the British monarchy. Sam Harrison, commissioning editor at Aurum Press, acquired World rights from Charlie Viney at The Viney Agency.
Royalty Inc scrutinises how the British Monarchy has become one of the most recognisable institutions in the world, how it manages its wealth and shapes its image, and what challenges the future holds for the House of Windsor.
Harrison said: “Following the birth of Prince George, media speculation about an abdication and new scrutiny of the Queen’s finances, the time is surely right for a clear-eyed account of how the Royal Family maintains its place at the apex of public life. Having observed the Windsors for over a decade as the Guardian’s royal correspondent, Stephen Bates will reveal how the Monarchy evolved from Victoria to Elizabeth II to become Britain’s biggest brand.”
Aurum will publish Royalty Inc as a lead title in Autumn 2015.
