Ridout to leave Phaidon

Phaidon managing director Amanda Ridout has decided to leave the company "to pursue personal projects".

Ridout will depart in mid-March. She joined the illustrated publisher in August 2010, having left HarperCollins the previous year.

News of her departure follows the acquisition of Phaidon by the family of private equity billionaire Leon D Black in October 2012, after its previous owner Richard Schlagman put the business up for sale.

Ridout said: "Phaidon Press is a wonderful business with extraordinary product, a powerful brand and a genuine global reach. I wish the company, the team and all the creative contributors the very best for many exciting and successful years ahead."
