Richard Hammond memoir to W&N
23.01.13 | Charlotte Williams
Weidenfeld & Nicolson and the Orion Publishing Group has acquired a new memoir by writer and television presenter Richard Hammond.
Publisher Alan Samson bought world rights from Luigi Bonomi at LBA in the title, On the Road: My Life in 20 Journeys, with plans to publish in September 2013.
The book is described by the publisher as "a new form of memoir in which 'Top Gear' presenter Richard Hammond will recount his life story through a series of significant driving episodes". The episodes include being a child in the back seat of his dad's car; being on his first bicycle, motorcycle, and at the wheel of his first car, as well as driving a furniture delivery van as part of his first job, and risking everything showing off with a friend.
Samson said: "On the Road is a genuinely new approach to memoir, and Richard's wit, observational abilities, natural self-deprecation and indubitable literary quality make him one of the most natural and attractive autobiographers. We are thrilled to continue to be his publisher."
