Random House Children's Screen Entertainment has sold its first book-to-screen transfer project, with Channel 5's Milkshake! commissioning Wanda and the Alien to broadcast in 2013/14.
The series will be based on books by Sue Hendra about a little girl rabbit who meets an alien, and is already in pre-production. RHCSE is producing 52 x 10-minute programmes using flash animation and the first episode is scheduled for broadcast in the final three months of 2013. Will Brenton of Wish Films is behind the creative development of the series.
Partner and head of film and TV at RHCSE Andrew Cole Bulgin said: "The highly visual, stand-out characters in Sue Hendra’s books are ideal for a book-to-screen transfer. The storylines celebrate the positives and strengths of difference between people and how everyone is unique in their own way. This latest agreement also cements the effectiveness of the publisher/producer relationship within RHCSE which goes from strength to strength.”
Random House Children's Screen Entertainment in conjunction with Random House Enterpries will represent Wanda and the Alien for licensing and merchandising.
