Random House Children’s has acquired a four-book children’s book series from gold-winning Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
Ellie’s Magical Bakery tells the tale of a girl who lives with her uncle and aunt above a bakery. She is not allowed to go into the bakery but one day receives an old cookery book where recipes magically appear on the page.
Editorial director Ruth Knowles signed the deal, which is for UK and Commonwealth rights, with Zoe King at The Blair Partnership.
“We’re just thrilled at the opportunity to work with Ellie,” said Knowles. “She is an inspiration to children and adults alike, and has turned her hand to these stories perfectly. Ellie took part in the "Great Comic Relief Bake Off" so fans know how keen she is on cooking.”
The series is aimed at readers aged six and over and will be illustrated by Kimberley Scott.
The announcement is issued from RHCP despite the recent news of a merger into combined children's division Penguin Random House Children's as no immediate changes are being made to publishing structure.
