RHCP to publish Wattpad teen sensation
01.01.70 | Katie Allen
Random House Children's Publishers has acquired three books by 17-year-old Beth Reekles, whose first story, The Kissing Booth, is the most-viewed, most commented-on teen fiction title on Wattpad.
RHCP m.d. Philippa Dickinson signed the world English language rights deal with Reekles, with The Kissing Booth now edited by the publishers and to be published in e-book format on 20th December. A physical edition will be launched in June 2013.
Dickinson said: "We are excited to be partnering with Beth at the beginning of her publishing career-she is a teenager writing for teenagers, her knowledge of her readership is spot-on and her voice is completely authentic."
The book is described by the publisher as a "romance starring pretty, popular but never been kissed Elle Evans, and super cool player Noah Flynn. When Elle decides to run a kissing booth for the school's carnival she locks lips with Noah and life is turned upside down. Her head says stay away, but her heart tells her otherwise."
The story has received more than 19 million reads and 40,000 comments on Wattpad to date, and won the Most Popular Teen Fiction Watty Award.
