HarperCollins has appointed Charlie Redmayne as its chief digital officer and executive vice president.
Redmayne, who was previously group digital director, will report to Brian Murray, president and c.e.o. of HarperCollins Worldwide, and will also sit on the company's executive committee. He will be responsible for the publisher's overall digital strategy and will develop and manage its digital initiatives aimed at consumers.
HarperCollins' New York and London digital groups will report directly to him and Redmayne will split his time between both offices.
Murray said: "As new opportunities are increasingly both global and digital, it is a top priority for HarperCollins to have an executive position to lead and co-ordinate our efforts around the world. Charlie’s proven experience building digital businesses, and his relentless entrepreneurial drive will enhance our already successful digital initiatives and provide a common strategic direction."
Redmayne joined HarperCollins UK in March 2008 from News Corp sister company BSkyB, where he was head of commercial partnerships for the Sky Online Business Unit. He previously worked in advertising and marketing.
