Random House Group chair and c.e.o. Gail Rebuck has been given the Veuve Cliquot Business Woman Award 2009. The win was announced at a reception held at The Saatchi Gallery, King's Road, London last night (28th April), with Sir Trevor McDonald presenting the award.
Rebuck beat fellow finalists designer Cath Kidston, Premier Farnell c.e.o. Harriet Green, Healthcare Locums vice chair Kate Bleasdale and MITIE Group chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith.
The award, now in its 36th year, celebrates the memory of Madame Clicquot, the 19th century businesswoman behind the famous champagne house.
Veuve Clicquot marketing director Sally Warmington said that, like Madame Clicquot, Rebuck had successfully led her company through development and growth, adding that she "puts her success down to a forward-thinking attitude, positively embracing innovation in order to anticipate the future." Rebuck described her win as "a real privilege and an honour".
