Reading Agency to run Wales roadshow
10.05.13 | Joshua Farrington
The Reading Agency is launching its first ever roadshow in Wales for children’s publishers, librarians and writers.
The event will be held at Cardiff Central Library on 12th June, hosted by Cardiff Council and with Bertram Library Services sponsoring the day.
Bloomsbury, Macmillan, Curious Fox, Frances Lincoln, Abrams and Chronicle, Oxford University Press, Hot Key and Little Tiger will all participate. Each will give a presentation about their latest titles, with displays and “speed-meetings” between libraries and publishers. Authors present will include Wales’ first Young People’s Laureate Catherine Fisher who be there will her publisher Hachette, and Jackie Morris, Ali Sparkes and Fleur Hitchcock.
There will also be a presentation about Chatterbooks, a reading group programme aimed at children aged four to 12, which launched in Wales last year.
Andrea Reece, who coordinates The Reading Agency’s work with children’s book publishers and libraries said: “We have wanted to hold a roadshow for children’s publishers and librarians in Wales for some time, and we are very grateful to Cardiff Council for offering us their splendid Central Library as a venue. We have a stellar line up of authors for delegates to meet, and we are looking forward to what is set to be a really interesting, stimulating and useful day.”
The Reading Agency began holding roadshows in 2008 to introduce publishers to librarians and help them in promoting their titles and building contacts.
