Australian e-book company ReadCloud has said it is keen to partner with independent bookshops in the UK.
The company offers booksellers 35% commission on e-book sales, but asks for a joining fee of around £950. It is currently working with 30 booksellers in Australia.
Jeremy LeBard, c.e.o. and co-founder of ReadCloud, said the company was “very interested” in partnering with UK bookshops, claiming: “We offer one of the best deals that we have seen in the market place in terms of commission.”
Cole’s Bookshop in Bicester is working with ReadCloud on a test website. The look and feel of the e-book section of a booksellers’ website will match its existing website, and sales are processed by ReadCloud.
The Big Green Bookshop is also interested in becoming involved. Co-owner Simon Key said: “One of the big draws for me personally is that ReadCloud is an indie company, just like us. I like to support independent companies and I want to support this one.”
